Post- Deathly Hallows fic

h/d
I haven't posted a reaction to the book but I read it the night it came out. I completely loved it and I would love to post all I love about it but others have done so a lot better than I could ever. I wanted to share some of my favorite post-DH discussions, art, and meta that others have posted. I also thought I would rec some of the great fics that have come out since then. I would like that it is obvious that spoilers are in everything that follows.

If anyone has an Post DH recs I would appreciate them especially any of Neville, Luna, or Teddy. I haven't seen enough of them.

I absolutely love Veela fics and I haven't really had a chance to organize them so I thought I would post all my favorites here. Hopefully it will help some others find some they like also. If you have any to reccomend that I don't list here, I would appreciate the rec. :)

I haven't posted in probably a year but I have a little extra time now and I thought I would share some of my favorite H/D fics that I've read recently. I've been reading a lot in anticipation for the last book coming out and I'm very excited about the movie coming out tomorrow. I'm going to the midnight premiere!

So I haven't done a post in a while, I'm hoping to soon add more recs, but I was hoping to make a request from all of you on my friends list. I have recently become obsessed with Prison Break and I don't know how many of you watch it, but if any of you do I would love it if you could rec some fanfiction to me. I only have one exception, I don't want to read anything with any slash in it unless its not the focus of the fic. Thanks I would realy appreciate any thing that you have to reccomend to me.

Fic recs for Thursday May 18

  • May. 18th, 2006 at 10:38 PM
not done by me
Well hopefully I can keep up this weekly posting. Here's a few recs of some fics that I've read recently.

Snape/Hermione

Wandless Magic - Voldemort is dead. Severus Snape is not. But he discovers there's just as much need for espionage now — and he's in no position to do it. * Highly recommended and long

A Terrible Temptation - Stuck in Harry Potter's body due to a plot to kill the boy who lived, Severus must pretend to be his most hated student. When he develops feelings for Hermione Granger, can he withstand the temptation? What will happen when he returns to his own body?
*Humor and Romance, highly recommended

Here's a couple ss/hg marriage fics:

Matrimony - An orphaned Hermione must marry quickly, or lose her inheritance.
*short

Marry a choice - Complete! Hermione's week goes from bad to worse. She finds out an insane law is about to be passed and must choose a mate in three days to avoid the law's consequences

I also have one rec for the tv show House. I'm not sure how many of you watch it but if you have any recs for it that are either gen or het than I would really appreciate it.

Confidentiality - house/cuddy set after 2x23 "Who's Your Daddy"

More fic recs

Well I decided to add some more ficrecs of what I've been reading recently. It's mostly hermione/snape because thats all I've been reading lately. I'd like to post some on a weekly basis, if I remember that is.

Getting the Hang of Thursdays - A good day goes bad and then gets far worse than Severus could ever have imagined. Again and again and again. Inspired by the WIKTT Time-Loop Challenge.
* long and very good

Looking for Magic in All the Right Places - In a post-Voldemort world, magic is inexplicably failing, and disgruntled Hogwarts students must take summer crash-courses in Muggle science and culture. But some forms of ancient power still exist. Can a bit of chemistry between Hermione and Snape and a dose of Muggle poetry invoke it?
*funny good fic

Taking Over Me - Story begins in Hermione's 6th year at Hogwarts. Whose side is Severus on? Hermione thinks she knows, but does she really? The mysterious and complicated professor sparks her interest, and she finds herself entangled in his web of deceit, deception and treachery

State of Attraction - A love potion, a lust potion, and some crazy, nutty mix-ups. Proves you don’t have to like someone to shag them silly. Will the madness never end?!

Well here's some for now, hopefully its not another six months before I post again.

Go to your info page and find the seventh name listed on your friends list. Go to their info page. Find the seventh name on their friends list. Repeat until you are seven LJs from your own. (If you come across someone who doesn't have seven friends or the seventh friend is a journal you have already visited on this trip, randomly pick another name and continue).
[info]autumnmist
[info]andrian1
[info]butter_cup_
[info]deblovesdragon
[info]bubonicplague
[info]luna_k
[info]ahedonia

Now, use the info page and recent entries of that 7th LJ to answer the following questions:

1) What is the title of this journal (NOT the user name)? I can't complain, but sometimes I still do
2) How many communities does this person belong to? 15
3) List any interests you share in common with this user. Buffy, computers, fanfiction, harry potter, james marsters, spike, spike/buffy
4) List any friends you have in common with this user. [info]anniesj,[info]herself_nyc,[info]nautibitz,[info]wisteria_
5) Where does this user live? Los Angeles
6) What is the seventh sentence in this user's most recent journal entry? Too short
7) What is the first sentence in this user's seventh most recent journal entry?
"Woo hoo!"

Interesting meme, I got one new friend out of it. I really need to post more though. :)

I haven't updated in forever. I have another blog that just my close friends read so I don't ever feel the need to post real-life things on here. I've thought about doing a list of recs because I kept a list of most of the HP fics that I read because I lose track of which I've read and which I've not read.

I guess one thing I can mention is that I just did my taxes for the first time online and it gave me a headache. It's supposed to be easy especially since I only have one job and nothing else to report. But they kept confusing me with weird questions and forcing me to sign and pay them money for filing state taxes. I shouldn't have used H&R Block because they charge more but I thought it would be better to use a well known company. Oh well at least I know better for next year.

Also schoolwise I have decided to change my major to Education. I work with kids so I realized who much I loved that and what better way to continue that by becoming a teacher. I just have to decide whether I want to teach elementary or junior high because I really love editing essays for some odd reason and I wouldn't get to do that in elementary school really.

Well I guess that was a semi-good post. Sorry I couldn't make it more interesting.

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

I wasn't sure if I was going to do this, but I love giving other people gifts so hopely other people will love giving me a gift, but you don't have to.

I've made a new blog where I actually post about my life. My attempt to make my life entertaining

Today I've decided to actually write a journal post that is about me rather than just quiz results which most of the time do not reflect our true selves. Actually I decided this because I finally got a mood theme so now I need to actually use my paid account the way it should be used. I found out that one of my friends has a blog online. I haven't checked it out though. I've made a plan to go to her blog and make wierd comments about how I know where she lives and that I'm going to stalk her, but I made the mistake of telling her that so she'll probably know its me.

I work at a Country Club in the Children's Lounge which I always thought was a pretty sofisticated name for just a big room filled with charity toys. Most of the time I love my job and it has been slowly making me want to have children sooner than I planned. At least I don't have the guy yet or who knows what would come in 9 months. Luckily my friends have told me that they would kill me if I got pregnant before I graduate and have my PhD. Today was one of the days where I knew that if I had kids I would end up yelling at them a lot. For most of the day I had three kids who were 8, 7, and 4. The 4 year old hated to lose so no matter what they played, after a while he would start screaming and crying that it wasn't fair and he didn't want to play anymore. Most of the time I could just threaten time-out, but I always hated to actually go through with it. This is what makes me fear that my children will be hopelessly spoiled. I also cannot stand to let babies cry before they go to sleep. I know that they are tired, but I feel so bad for them. Luckily the girl that works with me distracts me so that I don't go in after 1 min because usually the baby will stop crying after 5 or less and go to sleep. There is this one 2 year old who for some reason doesn't want to sleep in a crib. She'll fall asleep on me and when I try to put her in a crib she'll start crying silently which I think is the worst. She just looks so heartbroken so I ignore my discomfort at letting her sleep on me for over an hour.

While taking the 30 minutes to upload the pictues for my mood theme, I came upon sleepy and tired, and I can't help wonder how are they different? I never did realize just how long it took to upload 100 and some pictures. I guess that shows how much free time I have on my hands.

Well this has been a completely uninteresting episode of my life. I guess I could never start my own Amanda show and actually except viewers. Hopefully I didn't put you to sleep.

I guess that's why I avoid instant messaging.
Things you may be interested in meme )
What reality TV show reject are you? )
What toy from the 80's are you? )
Well I guess that's all. I'm going to try to write more interesting entries, but I only seem to be able to think up something to write when I'm not near a computer. Oh well, I'll just write the interesting things that everyone else writes.

The Chariot can mean self-control or control of the environment. This card also represents victory. There are many types of wins; the Chariot's is of the win-lose type. 20 Questions to a better Personality

Wackiness: 36/100
Rationality: 76/100
Constructiveness: 86/100
Leadership: 50/100

You are an SRCF--Sober Rational Constructive Follower. This makes you a White House staffer. You are a tremendous asset to any employer, cool under pressure, productive, and a great communicator. You feel the need to right wrongs, take up slack, mediate disputes and keep the peace. This comes from a secret fear that business can't go on without you--or worse, that it can.

If you have a weakness, it is your inability to say "no." While your peers respect you, they find it difficult to resist taking advantage of your positive attitude and eagerness to take on work. You depend on a good manager to keep you from sinking under the weight and burning out.

20 Questions to a better Personality

This is completely true except I think that I have more wackiness. I've never thought about working in the White House, hmm.

98% of the teenage population does/has tried pot. If you're part of the 2% who hasn't, copy this in your journal.

Q: Why not?

A: I've known a lot of people that pot has completely changed their lives for the worse. I never wanted to risk that it would completely change mine.
